It is a spontaneous mushroom that grows underground (underground mushroom), drawing nourishment from the roots of plants (the most common: Oak, Lime and Willow). There are various species.
The most valuable is the White Truffle (Tuber Magnatum Pico) with a globose and irregular shape and a color ranging from pale yellow to ocher. It is crossed by various branched whitish veins. It can vary in size from that of a walnut to over a kilo. When ripe, white truffles have an unmistakable scent in which various aromas are perceived: garlic, hay, wet earth, honey, mushrooms and spices. A less valuable type of White Truffle is the Bianchetto Truffle ( Tuber borchii Vitt. ) Which has a less pleasant aroma.
Among the black truffles we remember the Black Winter Truffle ( Tuber Melanosporum Vitt. And Tuber Moscatum ), the Summer Truffle (Tuber Aestivum Vitt. ) And the Autumn Truffle ( Tuber Uncinatum Chatin ).
Since the truffle is a spontaneous mushroom, the crops are difficult.
